Subject: PCLANTES.DOC correction

Chris,

You have an excellent document on the Cinderella web site, PCLANTES.doc. It
contains chunks off the Net that may need updating. Here is the first :

Under Excel:
>>
Even more confusing, if you open an Excel 7.0 spreadsheet under Excel 97,
the cells taken from the older version keep their previous logic. If you
reformat the column, the old cells maintain the old logic, and newly typed
dates IN THE SAME COLUMN take on the new logic.

Conclusion : importing Excel 7 spreadsheets with 2DD into Excel 97 will have
flawed logic unless one actually retypes each 2DD cell entry
<<

This is not the case. Cells retain their ENTRIES, not the date
interpretation logic. Once an entry is made : e.g. 1/1/25 = 1/1/1925, that
is stored and will remain 1925 thereafter, even when imported into a version
that decides that 1/1/25 = 2025.

Under Clipper:
Thanks for quoting my web pages beginning "it's not just .PRG files". I'd
like it if you added a link to My Y2K web page:
http://www.iol.ie/~pobeirne/year2000.htm

I have a tool oriented towards Clipper ( or xBase code generally such as
dBase and FoxPro). If you'd like a demo (limited to five files and words),
it's on this web page:

Thanks for all the good work,

Patrick.
